Applied Community Interpreting

Course

Applied Community Interpreting is a in-house twelve week part-time training course designed to facilitate community interpreting, The course prepares bilingual speakers for interpreting work in sectors such as health, justice, and community services.

 

The course is delivered online and in-person. Learners are expected to spend up to 8 hours a week on learning. There are two intakes per year. Attendance of 80% is expected as condition of successful completion. The course fees are $300 (including GST).

Learning Outcomes

Learners who successfully complete the workshop will learn:

  • Intercultural competency
  • Ethics of interpreting
  • Building glossaries of key vocabulary
  • Professional practice in community interpreting
  • Familiarity of work as an interpreter
